We have had this mold for these 4” lures for some time now. They are the soft plastic we choose first for fast flowing estuaries using a 4/0 4g weedless weighted hook that comes with the pack. If I think back we’ve caught more bass using this lure than any of our homemade soft plastics here in Cornwall. It has always been the “locals” lure and we have caught so many bass at night using these split shads on the black version. Our top colours at night are black and white. In the day time our go to colours are motor oil, root beer and green.
Weighted (5 lures + 1 x 4g 4/0 hook) 14g
Weightless (5 lures + 1 x 4/0 hook) 11g
In the summer we work these high in the weed beds and fast flowing current but in the winter we drag/skip these along the bottom or swim they “very” slowly in the current.
Two things we think make these successful are the size of them 4” and the way that the tail thuds ever so slightly in the flow mimicking tiny bait fish.
