Description

Cast lightweight lures and flies further using your standard bass rod and reel. When bass are feeding on tiny baitfish and ignoring standard-size lures, a Bombarda helps you reach them with a small lure or fly.

Choose your option

  • Anti-Tangle Floating, Slow Sinking or Sinking: a complete Bombarda system.
  • Single Floating / 10g: a float only, not a complete system.

Select your preferred style and weight using the options above.

Rigging and fishing tips

For Bombarda float fishing, a hook length of 7 to 9 feet (2.1 to 2.7 metres) is recommended to keep the hook bait far from the float. This long hook length also allows for proper turnover of the bait or lure and reduces tangles, especially when stopping the line before the float hits the water.

  • Distance: A longer hook length creates distance between the float and the hook bait. This helps prevent the float from spooking fish near the bait.
  • Turnover: When casting, stop the line just before the float lands to allow the hook bait or lure to flip over and position itself behind the float, minimising tangles.
  • Adaptation: Start with 7–9 feet and adjust for your fishing style and conditions. Very long casts may need a slightly longer hook length, while shallower water may suit a shorter one.
  • Tangle prevention: Combine a longer hook length with stopping the line before the float hits the water to reduce tangles, especially when fishing with heavier baits or lures.

About Bombarda fishing

Bombarda float fishing is an Italian method traditionally used for trout, allowing anglers to cast lightweight lures or flies at a distance. The Danish evolved the float into the anti-tangle version used in the UK.
