We have been using this surf and reel combo for a few months now with great success. The 4000 reel pairs lovely with longer rod. The rod is 9ft 6” and has a casting weight of 10-45g and blasts 30-40g metals out for fun in the surf. The extra length comes in handy when you are pushed up onto the rocks from the sand at high tide and the strength in the rod allows you to cast shallow divers or large 30-40g weighted soft plastics to hold in the surf. Although the 4000 reel isn’t fully sealed, if you get into the routine of washing both reel and rod down with a hose after every use it will last a long time. We have landed some amazing bass already this year using this combo.
Rod: Tyrants S962MH Regular Fast (RF) 2.9m (9ft 6”) Spinning Rod 10-45g. Casting Weight which is perfect for casting heavier lures. A sturdy rod weighing 152g with regular fast action which means the rod will bend more offering a balance between power and sensitivity.
Reel: Brown Bear 4000 (Full Metal Saltwater Spinning Reel) This reel is pure class and has a great ball handle that we love using. This reel weighs 336g which is very light.
